He also researches and teaches medicines management at the University of Leeds. He undertook his PhD at the University of Leeds on pharmacist conducted medication reviews. Duncan was the pharmaceutical adviser for Leeds Health Authority. Previous to this he worked in hospital pharmacy
"My vision for the PCPA is that it provides a national forum for pharmacists working in relative isolation in primary care to share ideas and give each other mutual support. I wish to see the PCPA publicise and promote the role of primary care pharmacy outside of the pharmacy professional to other health care professionals and purchasers of health care." |

"I hope that the PCPA will continue to provide support and networking opportunities for primary care pharmacists. In particular I believe that the PCPA provides a unique service in the delivery of practical support and training tools for key initiatives via training events, the newsletter and website. This will be even more important in the future to ensure that pharmacists are at the forefront of new developments arising from initiatives from new contracting and commissioning arrangements." |

Sue has a background in both community and hospital pharmacy and has worked in primary care for eleven years. She now works as Head of Prescribing, Medicines Management and Pharmacy for a large Primary Care Trust on the South Coast. Sue helped co-found the PCPA, and she is really proud that the hard work of the Committee means that primary care pharmacy is now recognised as a separate specialist branch of pharmacy, equal to other branches of the profession, if not more important to the development of the NHS than any other. Sue is also a member of Council of the Guild of Healthcare Pharmacists, and an adviser on Pharmacy and Prescribing to the NHS Alliance, which are both partner organisations of the PCPA.

"A large number of pharmacists are working in primary Care sector. PCPA has provided support, networking opportunity and training for these pharmacists since its establishment. PCPA was the response to the isolation of the primary care pharmacists. Over the past few years, PCPA has been involved in negotiations and discussions around the future of pharmacy, NHS reorganisation and many other national issues as well as providing practical trainings for the practice pharmacists, and supporting PCT advisers.
