NHS Alliance is the main representative organisation of Primary Care Trusts (PCTs) in England. It is also the representative organisation of the Health Professionals (including managers; pharmacists; Allied health professionals; Optometrists; Dentists and lay people) who work in PCT's and their equivalent organisations elsewhere is the UK. PCPA is working with the NHS Alliance to extend the influence of primary care pharmacy into a multidisciplinary whole health service, to contribute to the work of the NHS Alliance as key pharmacy input, and to enable PCPA members to benefit from the wider networking and sharing of good practice that the NHS Alliance makes possible. NHS Alliance promotes and shares best practice in all areas of primary care, is instrumental in influencing national government health policy, and provides a think tank on all health services systems and policies. The NHS Alliance has a variety of different networks where the different professions working in primary care can share ideas, good practice and contributes to the wider agenda. The Allied Health Professions and Primary Care Practitioner network includes pharmacists employed by the NHS working in primary care as well as community pharmacists, and PCPA has a representative on the AHP/PCP Network Steering Group, as well as providing an Adviser to the main NHS Alliance Executive and Leads group.
