PCPA Country Lead, GP Practice Pharmacist and Divisional Director of Primary Care and Community Services
Lloyd Hambridge is an independent prescribing pharmacist with extensive experience across primary, community, secondary and urgent care settings within NHS Wales.
As the Divisional Director of Primary Care, Community Services and Continuing Healthcare (CHC) at Aneurin Bevan University Health Board, he provides strategic and operational leadership for a large and complex portfolio spanning primary care, community services, and long-term care. In this role, he leads the delivery of integrated, place-based care, working in partnership with local authorities, primary care contractors, and third sector organisations to improve population health outcomes and enable care closer to home.
Lloyd has a strong interest in system transformation, quality improvement, and the development of sustainable community-based services aligned to the ambitions of A Healthier Wales. He continues to maintain a clinical background as a practice pharmacist and has previously held national leadership roles within Welsh Government, contributing to the development of policy and the safe, effective and efficient delivery of pharmaceutical care.
Kate Spittle
Advanced Pharmacist Education & GP Practice Pharmacist & PCPA All Wales Lead
Kate has worked in GP practice in primary care since 2001 following experience in the pharmaceutical industry, community pharmacy and Cardiff university as a teacher practitioner. She has been an Independent prescriber since 2008 and completed the Diploma in Therapeutics at Cardiff medical school in 2014, winning the prize for the top academic performance.
At present she is an associate professor at Swansea University Medical School, a GP practice pharmacist and an Independent prescribing tutor at Cardiff University. She also teaches on the prescribing course. Kate is directly employed by a GP practice covering a number of key therapeutic areas including minor illness, deprescribing, pain management, diabetes and women’s health.
In addition to this, Kate works for an independent medical education company developing a variety of educational resources on immune-mediated inflammatory diseases, lupus, scleroderma and achondroplasia for clinicians across the globe.
Carl Barrett
Clinical Pharmacist & PCPA Regional Ambassador
Carl Barrett is a Practice Clinical Pharmacist at West Quay Medical Centre in Barry. He is an Independent Prescriber with a special interest in diabetes as well as other aspects of chronic disease management. Alongside his clinical role Carl has an enthusiasm for Quality Improvement and is involved in numerous ongoing projects at a practice level. Carl has previously worked in various sectors including as a Cluster Pharmacist, Local Health Board Prescribing Advisor, Secondary care and Community Pharmacy.
